There is increasing demand for high quality video content in our subjects, so to help meet this demand, a new facility in Wagga is being piloted to provide academic staff across the campus access to the equipment required.
VideoWorks has been set up in Room 110 in Building 29 by the Learning Resources Unit in DLT. It provides a small studio to record high quality video resources with ease.
The facility is equipped with a backdrop, professional microphones and studio lighting to ensure you look and sound your best. The system uses a high definition camera and records right into Panopto, capturing both video and screen capture – so you can present any material on screen or just record a talking head. Panopto provides simple editing tools and it’s built right into your subjects, ensuring that publishing resources out to students happens at the click of a button. And you can do that all from the comfort of your desk. Simply come into VideoWorks, record and once you’re done you can edit and publish from your office.
This preview demonstrates just what you can do with VideoWorks and how easy it is to make video presentations.
Interested? Then book in an induction session with our Learning Resources Unit staff. This half hour session will walk you through the space, the equipment and the workflow. It will also provide you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have so that you’re ready to record into the future. To book, simply create a meeting request in Outlook and invite videoworks@csu.edu.au, then add Induction Session into the subject line. Staff will confirm your booking via Outlook.
To see the space and find out more information, visit the DLT Website. and check out the 360 degree video of the room.
This facility is a pilot and if it’s successful, it will provide a model to roll out to other campuses, so stay tuned for more!
Thanks to Tim Klapdor and Janene Wright for their work on this project.
